Panchayat Assets

Assets owned by, or vested in, Local Self-Government Institutions (particularly Grama Panchayats), such as land, buildings, roads, and other infrastructure, are included under the category of Panchayat Assets.

As per the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act and the applicable financial rules, the major details regarding Panchayat assets are as follows:

Major Panchayat Assets

  • Immovable Assets: Land and buildings of Panchayat offices, community halls, shopping complexes, libraries, public cremation/burial grounds, parks, playgrounds, markets, schools under the Panchayat, Primary Health Centres, etc.
  • Public Roads: All public roads, streets, bridges, and culverts maintained by the Panchayat.
  • Water Resources: Public wells, ponds, streams, water tanks, and drinking water supply schemes.
  • Movable Assets: Panchayat vehicles, computers, furniture, equipment, street lights, etc.
